John Leone Partner

Mr. Leone is a Partner of Madryn Asset Management, LP where he works with the firm’s investment team to source, evaluate, and manage investments in the healthcare industry. Prior to Madryn, Mr. Leone was a founding investment team member and Partner of Visium Healthcare Partners, LP, a private equity fund sponsored by Visium Fund Management, LP, where he was responsible for investments in the healthcare industry, from 2013 through 2017.

Prior to Visium, Mr. Leone was a Partner at Paul Capital Advisors, LLC, where he was responsible for U.S. investments in the healthcare industry, from 2007 through 2013. Prior to joining Paul Capital, Mr. Leone had a successful thirty-plus year career as an operator in the healthcare industry with diverse domestic and international experience and significant commercial and executive management roles at Pfizer Inc., American Home Products Corporation, and Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., culminating with his serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cambrex Corporation. Mr. Leone has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Windtree Therapeutics, Inc. (f/k/a Discovery Laboratories, Inc.) since 2012, where he has also served in the role of Chairman since 2013, is an active Board Member of Pernix Therapeutics Holdings, Inc., and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Viropharma, Inc. until its acquisition in 2014. Additionally, Mr. Leone sits on the Strategic Advisory Board of Promius Pharma, LLC, a U.S. subsidiary of the Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Ltd.

Mr. Leone received his BS in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and his MBA from the University of Colorado.
